This essay evaluates the need for innovation within the area of low carbon energy through analyzing problems facing current renewable technologies. It then provides an overview of the key concepts behind the nuclear fusion reaction like the binding energy of nucleons, how mass loss translates to energy release, and magnetic confinement. The essay finds that a number of fundamental engineering challenges face fusion technology, like reliance on tritium breeding and large parasitic power drain as a result of maintenance of plasma conditions and essential systems. It is also determined that if fusion power were to be commercialized, it would face the same socioeconomic problems that currently are plaguing nuclear fission technology, large upfront capital costs and long construction times. Finally, it concludes that investment should be focused on existing renewables and on supporting grids with conventional fission plants. It does this whilst recognizing the importance of continued investment into future technologies like fusion energy and acknowledging the future promise of the technology.

This research report attempts to examine the factors leading to the implosion of the Titan submersible, killing its five passengers, and the downfall of its manufacturer, Oceangate Inc. The report will focus on a number of key factors leading up to the incident, focusing on various design choices, circumstances of the company, and the personality of OceanGate’s CEO Stockton Rush. By analyzing these factors, the report will assess the underlying reasons for the failure of the Titan and will shed light on the importance of regulation in modern engineering.

This paper provides an overview of the history of spaceflight and outlines possible outcomes for the continuation of human space development. The paper presents evidence against trust in humanity, such as the worsening climate crisis on earth and persistent pollution of low earth orbit with space debris. It also gives evidence supporting the continuation of human space exploration, such as the capability for technological innovation and international collaboration. The paper discusses legal and ethical considerations of space colonization and concludes that human society is not yet prepared to undertake colonization of space.

This report analyzes the idea of deploying nuclear warheads over the Martian poles, to prepare the environment for human colonization. It considers legal, ethical, and practical aspects, and assesses the feasibility of changing the Martian climate through these means. The report also compares the costs associated with colonizing Mars to fixing climate issues on Earth.

This report will outline the history of U.S. tariffs, and the impact that they have had on global trade. The report will then move on to discuss the significance and implementation of President Trump’s tariff proposals and will evaluate their effectiveness. Finally, the report will assess the impact of U.S. tariffs on the economies of both America., and the world as a whole.
